Today we can share three pieces of good news! Firstly, Sweden has made 600 pledges (promises) to relocate people from Greece. This means that applications can now be sent to Sweden for them to approve. The European Commission states that Sweden intends to start receiving people from Greece by June. In the future Sweden will make more places available.

Secondly, after pressure from the European Commission, the Austrian government has announced that it plans to start relocating. Since 2015 Austria has refused to take part in the relocation program. It is not yet clear when they may start receiving people.

And lastly, relocation is gradually speeding up. In March 2017 there were over 1,600 completed relocations from Greece. This is 400 more than the 3 months before it, which all saw around 1,200 relocations. On the whole, we can see the rate of relocation gradually increasing and we hope that this trend will continue with the entry of Sweden and Austria to the relocation program in the coming months.
