On Tuesday the European Commission launched a legal case against the governments of Poland, Hungary and the Czech Republic for not accepting asylum seekers through the Relocation Program. Hungary and the Czech Republic are obliged to take around 300 refugees; Poland should take 1200. Until now not a single person has been relocated to Hungary or Poland and the Czech Republic only took 12 and then stopped taking part in the program in May 2016. Because of this the commission has launched so-called "infringement procedures" against the three countries, to try to force them to start relocating again or penalise them if they don't. A case in front of the European High Court will now be opened, which might take months or even years to complete and may result in high fines for the 3 countries
